Person called saying letters were sent regarding an issue with a prior debt collection with a credit card company. Claimed that we owed $7,000 and that if we did not settle they would proceed with court paperwork. They were going back to an issue in 2010/11 that had been settled. They claimed they were sold the book of past due loans and were collecting on these. Luckily we had the paperwork from the previous company that we settled with and when we called back and accused this company of a scam they blamed the previous company for selling a bad list and asked us to provide proof of settlement.

This company said they sent letters to multiple address, none were ever received. We called the previous company who pushed the blame to yet another company. We are fortunate we have a paper trail.
