Carpet cleaning company, quoted price over phone. Arrived for appointment on following day, increased price by 3.5 times the quoted price-even after confirmation text where I confirmed the quoted price w/ them. Countless online reviews share the identical bait and switch experience. This company is supposed to clean carpets. I was told there is an extra charge for any kind of soap or cleaning agent, or even hot steam, even with no soap involved. They are charging people hundreds of dollars to pour cold water on dirty carpets. This is an absolute scam and a fraud (I was also told that vacuuming will be done, which was not done. After the whole process, all I had was a wet carpet, with wet lint on it). Calling office managers resulted in a manager screaming, he also threatening that they “had me on tape“ to which I had no concern, since I did not do any of the yelling or threatening of any nature. I was told that if I did not like the price, to just find someone else. This was stated after I told him that I was moving and I needed the job done today. Also of concern is that there were so many people that I had to speak to in order to get any nature of a resolution. In less than 24 hours there were four separate individuals that I had contact with, all with different phone numbers, all answered as though they were persinal phones-never identifying the company name. First was office person, Jonathan who booked the job. 2nd office person, Jose called in the morning to state they were changing the appointment time. 3rd person is the person who came to do the job, named Julian-he is the person who gave me the (increased by 3.5 times) price hike. 4th person I spoke to, from the office named Ramos, is the one who yelled. While Ramos was yelling, Julian called Jose from his cell. Jose told me that for the $99 quoted price, “the carpet would look exactly the same after their “cleaning job“ as it did when they arrived” unless I paid the $350.00. I would not agree to pay $350. I told them to do the job for $99.00 as quoted. It took him about 10 minutes to run cold water on 3 very small small areas of a 1 bedroom, approx 500 sq. ft. apartment. When I was began to write the check to pay, I was told they do not accept checks. There was no mention of this beforehand. I was told credit card or cash only. I was told to call Jose in the office one more time. Jose said no check and they would charge an additional $3.50 for credit card usage. I understand bank fees, but that was not disclosed. Furthermore, there’s absolutely no way I would give them my credit card information. They were also very dodgy about providing a receipt. They acted uncertain as to whether or not they even had a receipt or if it was going to be emailed at a later time. I wasn’t going to hold my breath on that one either. Upon paying cash, for the $99.00 charge for wetting the carpets, Julian told me that he did not have one dollar’s change due back for my $100.00 bill. By then I was out of patience & asked him to please find one dollar in his truck or perhaps in the seat cushions he may find some coins. After the dishonest conduct they exhibited, I was not going to tolerate any more dishonesty. A deal is a deal and if changes due, change is due. Suddenly he produced a one dollar bill out of his pocket. When I mentioned that he DID in fact have a dollar, even though he just lied, by saying that he had no change, he responded with, “my tip.” It’s too bad that he decided to verbalize that, because I realize that he is likely not at fault for the bait & switch practices, and so I was prepared to tip him, but his sense of sarcasm and entitlement just added insult to injury and really spoke volumes about how this entire company operates.
