This website claims to offer free search and application tools for people searching for "affordable/low income housing" in the United States. My mother and I were searching for a rental and came across this website advertising a reasonably priced rental for a 3 bedroom, 5* bath house (*the actual deed for the house as well as other credible sites list it as a 3 bedroom, 3 bath house). The price was typical for the area and there were pictures, and a short description. There was also a landlord listed that was a male, but no contact information for them, no company outside of the website such as a property management company, and the only way to contact them through the website was by filling out a contact form with name, email, questions, etc. The website also asks you to create an account when contacting the landlord, and misspells "password" as "psaaword". There is also a description of the site at the bottom of the webpage which is as follows:

"We are not directly involved into the renting business, nor do we have any direct beneficial relationship with the renters and landlord. We are committed to providing a fair and direct house renting platform for our users on both side, in order to provide more convenient and efficient platform services. During platform registration and use, we will not charge any fees. However, to cover the usual business spent, we cooperate with the third party ad services, such as: Google, etc.. So which means, once the website users click on the ads, we could get benefited from that. Thanks for your understanding."

The verbiage used is very questionable for a "professional" business and there is no physical address, phone number, email address or company/site owner information listed on the site or Google.

When searching for the house on other websites, there is no rental listing found, and each site that the house is listed on states that the house was last sold in 2007 to a different person than is listed on this website. The county deeds website also has this person listed as the owner along with the same price and sell date history as the other credible and well-known websites. The house is real, the address is accurate, but the website is trying to scam people who may be desperate for housing (ie affordable/low-income specific) into giving them money or personal information for a house that is not up for rent.

Please make sure you are doing all due diligence and research when searching for housing. The housing crisis has been fraught with scams from people who want to take advantage of the desperate and anyone who is not middle class and above because they are more likely to trust because they may not have many other choices, or any at all. Please be careful out there.
