I received a letter from The State of California Franchise Tax Board Stating I owed back taxes from 2008. I have been a Alaskan resident since 2006 I have not lived in California since 2003. The provided business number only demands you enter your SSN to talk to a representative. The recorded messages try and scare you by saying they can seize your home and other property. I was unable to find any info on this company on the internet besides their own website.

My daughter received an Income Tax Due notice from California stating she owed $7,264.33 in franchise taxes for 2013. My daughter is developmentally disabled and has never resided in California. The notice looks real. I called the number to report a mistake and got a recording asking for her social security number. I did not put it in. I opted for a live representative. The recording told of all the penalties attached to not paying these taxes. Then it told me due to the volume of calls, I'd have to call back later. This notice came from:
