I was contacted by the Start Fresh Program they left a voicemail stating they would be able to help lower my student loan payments. I was paying a third party working with the Dept of Edu. because I was trying to get my loans back into good standing since I had stopped paying them for a couple of months. I called back thinking this was some third party working with the Dept. of education. I gave them my name and they had the info for my loans. They said I qualified for lower payments and since I worked at a state facility I also qualified for Service loan forgiveness. I stupidly gave them my info, work info, bank info everything. After paying 3 payment of $247 my loan payment would be reduce to only $69 for 120 months. They sent my contracts to sign and at the end of it all stated they were NOT affiliated with U.S. dept of education. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!!! I researched and found no website, found others with similar stories online. I didn't want to cancel the contract on bad terms since they had ALL my information. I wrote an email of cancelation with no response from them. Call my bank to report the faud and canceled my card.

Received a call from someone saying their are new laws with student loans and how they are paid back. I was asked to call back and they would help me with my loans. I called and talked to Kevin. He said I qualified for student loan forgiveness. It is scary to think about how much he knew about me. He knew the last four digits of my checking account number, the routing number, my address, how much I owed all before I even gave him any information. Thankfully I couldn't verify the entire checking account number so I gave him my credit card. He said I would pay them the regular payment for 2 months and then I would only have to pay about $69 for 120 months. Once the 120 months was up, my loans would be forgiven. He said because I work for a non-profit school, I qualify for this program. I did some research after we hung up and found this to be a scam. He sent me a link about the program I qualified for after I cancelled my application. Upon more research, I found I could apply for this forgiveness program without their company. If it sounds too good to be true, IT IS!!! Don't sign up for this program.

My daughter was contacted by Start Fresh Program to relieve her student loan debt. They negotiated access to her FSA account and they had enough information that they were able to tell us everything from her outstanding balance to her last payment. The terms were that out of that at her current rate she was making a $283 a month payment. Basically she would be paying $34,000 at the end, but based on her 69.83 for 12 months, with an annual review every 12 months after that over 240 payments. They told her she would get loan forgiveness for $17,000. She currently has Navient and because of their lawsuit and the initial email we thought it was legit.

On November 6th I was texted by a number 83997 stating to call 866-561-8118 to see if I qualify for student loan debt consolidation. I called this number on November 7th and spoke to a Kevin P*** (email: [email protected]) and phone number 951-478-2000 - who stated he was with a program called StartFresh and that the program I qualified for was called the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program. He accessed my Federal Student Aid account through resetting my account password without me even realizing that is what he was doing until after he had accessed it. He stated he needed to verify certain information including my social security number so he could email me over the contract of terms to review and I stupidly affirmed that the social security number he cited to me was indeed correct. He also told me to draft the contract that he needed my payment information. He sent over the contract for my review and I became suspect so I told him I wasn't sure and would decide in the next couple of days. The screenshot attached is a part of that contract stating that I would assign partial rights to Start Fresh Financial. I subsequently cancelled my credit card before any fraudulent charges could be made. Also, the website provided claims that this business is ScamPulse.com accredited but I could find no record of their accreditation on your website. Thank You.
