starhomeminidachshund Reports & Reviews (1)

I thought I had purchased a puppy named Alex. He was a 10 week old miniature dachshund. I had saw the picture on facebook and the link to the website. I contacted this "breeder" via email and he replied with the information of the puppy. I had agreed to the 600 dollars for the puppy and another 280 dollars for travel expenses. They were apparently located in Fort Myers Florida and I am in St. Louis. They had stated to me that the puppy would be flown to my destination. I payed via email using Zelle through Bank of America. We settled on a delivery date which was 3 weeks from when I purchased the puppy. We kept in touch then by text messages. They sent me pictures of the puppy. Then a few days before delivery, I got an email from the travel company who was to ship the puppy asking for almost 1,000 dollars for a special crate to ensure the safety of the puppy on the flight. They did send a tracking bar code and website for that as well. I paid that fee and then the day of the delivery I got another email from the travel company that they need another 500-600 for pet insurance. I became very angry at this point with the breeder himself and was emailing & texting him how frustrated I was. I did pay for the insurance payment and they had assured me the entire time that all of the payments I was making now were going to be 100% refunded upon delivery of the puppy. At that point after the insurance payment went through, I get another email asking for money. Now, at this time I decided that this is enough and tried to contact both the travel company and the breeder. Neither which answered my phone calls or text messages. At this point is was almost 8pm here in STL and they were assuring me that the puppy would be delivered to me that day. After a couple of hours went by I realized that I had been scammed. I actually got sick to my stomach and was devastated. My heart had been broken and realized that I was out of 2,000 dollars. How people can be this cruel is beyond my scope. I can only hope now that this doesn't happen to anyone else. I reached out to my local News reporter who did a segment on this very type of scam and she lead me to reporting this to the ScamPulse.com and the Federal Trade Commission. I also called my bank and filed a claim. My bank recommended that I get a policy report. I called my local policy and got a report and they suggested to send a 10 day certified letter to demand my money be returned to me. Now I just wait. I'm still in search of a puppy but still heartbroken that people in this world made up this elaborate scheme. Thank you for listening.
