Unsolicited request for donation to a political action committee contacted me by phone first. I don't know how they got my phone number (cell). I pledged $20; I received a follow up communication (letter) from them with a return address, signed by the CEO of the organization, Robert Piaro.

I got a cell phone call asking for *** - told them wrong number - he said, "Well maybe you can help me" and went on with his message about a plea to help veterans. Ask for credit card, told him to send me a bill - said to save money, please use credit card. I insisted on him sending the bill. Got the bill and noticed it is a political action committee and my contribution is not deductible as a charitable contribution for tax purposes, so I started to check them out. I have not contributed yet but am enclosing a copy of the bill. Mailing address is po box 2500853, milwaukee, wi 53225

They contacted me by phone to contribute. I pledged to pay $15.00. I went their website, not much there. I did get an invoice for $15.00. I don't think that this is a legitimate charity for veterans.

A man called on behalf of Standing By Veterans. He was asking for donations over the phone by credit card. I said I had no credit cards. He said he would send me an envelope for my donation. I received the confirmation letter with confirmation numbers, pledge dates and all the things to make it look official. I searched The BBB and didn't find this charity. There was another person inquiring about this same charity. I will not give to this charity unless The BBB finds out the truth about this charity.

I just received a phone from a man regarding the "Standing by Veterans" charity. His pitch sounded very legit. He was asking for a 15.00 donation to help out vetetans. I didn't make any donation on the phone, but asked him to send information about this charity so I could decide if I wanted to give. He sort of avoided that statement. He asked several times if so could do 15.00. I told him no, not with Christmas so close. He suggested a lessor amt, although not a specific amt. When I wouldn't commit he said he would call back later. I have tried to call up the charity name, but found nothing. I just wanted to inform you so you can say if it is on the up and up. Thank you.
