Type of a scam Government Agency Imposter
we let our registration expire, we would lose the ability to receive any governent funds from contracts or grants. She implied she was from the federal govenment.
I called the number and spoke with ******." He acted like he was also government. He confirmed without registration we would never receive more government funds. He offered 3 levels of payment for registration: $399/yr, $799 for 3 years, $1199 for 5 years. His number is *** ********. I initially fell for the approach, and paid $799 with the organizational debit card. After looking on the internet and finding that there is never a charge to register with the government, I called him back, and he cheerfully agreed to give me a credit refund. He sent me an invoice which looks like he did. But I will have to check to see if both the charge and revers appear online at BoA before I will feel assured that it really was. And they now have our debit card number, which is worrysom.
