First, I want to start by saying that a lot of the details in this description were not realized until after I realized it was a scam. I signed up on as an independent contractor a site called *** to be matched with businesses and individuals looking for someone to do transcription and data entry. You purchase credits on *** to be able to submit quotes to the individuals or businesses looking for individuals to do this type of work from home. One of the bids I submitted was to this person listed as Kim Ander, an individual out of Edmond, Oklahoma. She sent me a message that she wanted to speak to me in more detail and sent me a Job Briefing via email (attached). Once I reviewed the Job Briefing and sent in questions, she requested me to meet her on AIM for a job interview where she asked me lots of questions, proceeded with further descriptions of the job duties, and asked for proof of my identity and my home office location (HOL). Once this portion of the interview was over, during which she was very clever and the questions seemed legitimate and on point and in line with a job interview, she requested me to send her a copy of my Driver's License and a utility bill. Needless to say, caught up in the excitement of what seemed like a fabulous opportunity, I complied and sent her a copy of this information. Her handle on AIM was kimberly.anderson20. Another email address used was supposedly from HR and was ***; and I met someone on Google Hangouts to complete my HOL registration and pretraining interview. His email was ***. I received a written offer of employment on December 8th and signed it and sent it back. Supposedly, I'm to receive a check from them to cover my time spent in the pretraining interview and to cover expenses to purchase equipment to do the data entry work on their system.
