About half the calls have come from a woman who did not identify herself and a man who identified himself as Officer Michael Brown. They have used the same phone number to call from only one time. The calls came from many different area codes although the voices were the same. I responded to the male caller with: “Michael, you son of a gun it’s been a month since you’ve called. I was beginning to think you were mad at me.” He hung up. I believe all calls were recorded because they would continue the spiel even after I tried to interrupt and the voices and message was always the same. The SS provided me with a security 5 digit number to use if they attempted to contact me in person. I was told that no one would be able to provide that number except SS. If the scammer could not give me the security number I was told to use caution dealing with them.
