I'm the daughter of the person who was being scammed. It's currently 10/18/20; we received a Priority Mail envelope on a Sunday, which was already fishy as it sounded because mail doesn't run on Sundays. My parents were out of town. I opened it, read it, and felt uneasy. As desperate as we are for money, a fake check/scam wasn't going to pass us that easily, especially me. I searched for the company name - it was a theme park. I contacted the numbers using *67 and they were disconnected. The check felt like paper, literal paper, and not a real check. I was going to rip it up and throw it away but my friend told me to contact the BBB. Unfortunately, it is Sunday, therefore nobody could be reached over the phone. So here I am. I hope me reporting this will help save and protect others from phishers and scammers.
