At this time I picked up the call. The caller asked if I was Bxxxxxx. I identified myself as her mother. He said Bxxxxxx failed to appear for jury duty (now somehow, this person had some information because Bxxxxxx was summonsed to appear for jury duty recently but the trial was canceled and she was notified she did not need to appear). I said that Bxxxxxx was notified she did not need to appear. He said this is a serious offense. I asked him why my daughter was being notified in such an odd way: a phone call on a Saturday afternoon at 1:40 p.m., instead of a police officer showing up on our doorstep with a summons for Bxxxxxx to appear in a governmental meeting. I asked him how could I be sure this isn't just another scam like so many others going on right now?"
At that point the caller hung up on me. I then called the St. Joseph County Police Department front desk and reported the call to them. They advised me to notify the BBB. I had called on Tuesday morning and reported this scam call. I was also advised to fill out this report.
