Misrepresentation and agressive scare sales tactics

Called what I thought and what appears to be a direct att number. As a current spectrum client - the whole exchange was fishy

“Melvin” was one of the reps I spoke to.

Their demeanor and interaction was suspect
Went through the whole process of initiating a new account. Was out on hold to “ look into another account at that address”. I assumed it was an issue with the previous tenant from 3 ish years ago.

Rep got back on the line and said “ what are you trying to do here. What do you pay for spectrum” to which I replied- it’s. Irrelevant. Told me att was now not available at my address since I was an active account holder with spectrum. To which I then asked who he was and then got the truth they were a theirs party “one stop shop”. I said I wasn’t comfortable and was going to reach out to att directly. I was told I’m not going to get a better dea etc etc etc.

Bizarre experience. Beware

I called what was labeled a Spectrum phone number to add a mobile line and was connected to "promotions" and when I was transferred my phone alerted me scam likely, the agent repeatedly asked me for my social, rushed me through the process then demanded I agree to the charges. I told her no do not charge my card, she hastily hung up the phone on me. I called the customer service for Spectrum and they informed me that number I was previously was speaking with in regards to my account was not affiliated with their company.

The scammer posed as Spectrum offering me a discount on my monthly bill for being a loyal customer. The scammer knew my address, amount of last bill, last 4 of my debit card, etc. They wanted me to provide my dob, social to ensure I wasn’t apart of an existing government assistance program in order to qualify for the discount.

They sent emails to my personal account asking me to provide them with the security codes. I believe they also recorded my voice for numbers.

Using google spectrum has a number listed that is attached to fraud. They are aware of this. They continually processed unauthorized payments on my account knowing the history. I closed the account and they have sent me another bill that was declined again. I have paid this company 100’s of dollars trying to catch up. They refused to take off the last charges and blamed me for using the wrong # to pay my bill. This is unacceptable and I want others to know that spectrum has no integrity when it comes to customer service.
