sparx PC support Reports & Reviews (3)

I responded to what was probably a phishing email. A Sparxpc.com person represented himself as working for Amazon. He declared that we needed a “Cisco Level 8” firewall installed on our computers (@ $2,000). He advised us not to change passwords because we were "protected by Amazon's firewall" while a "Cisco-certified engineer" installed a firewall. We stupidly let him into our computers through software called Support-LogMeInRescue-2. He spent more than an hour in each computer, probably downloading all of our files (tax returns, copies of passports, credit card info, etc.). He also installed malware, which a local computer technician found in our downloads folder (LMIRescue.pkg.zip). He insisted on being paid instantly through the bank’s billpay option. (We finally realized what was going on and inserted a future date, then canceled the BillPay.)

I received an email in my Gmail account and all my email accounts froze for about 15 minutes. Then I received a phone call from an 789-009-9550 and my phone froze for about 5 minutes. Believing I had been hacked, I googled for a Google C/S #. The number I called was 888-977-7961. The rep I spoke with knew my name and said I had been hacked by a firm in Germany. He said he could verify that if he could access my computer. I didn't think too much of that because I had had that type of help in the past with printer problems. After several failed attempts, he was able to access my computer and pulled up my NETSTAT box and explained/showed me I had been hacked by Koobface. I said he could transfer me to a Cisco Network Specialist and they could fix it for $239. So the alleged Cisco person came on the line and told me it would take about one hour and not to touch anything. I was becoming alarmed, but when panicked, we do not always think straight and in retrospect, I was pathetically stupid. So before an hour was up, another "Cisco" rep came on the phone and said they fixed everything and got rid of the virus. He said he was emailing me the invoice. When the invoice came, it was from Sparx PC Support, NOT Cisco. He then transferred me to his "supervisor" who wanted to know when I could send a check. Thankfully, I came to my senses and have since been trying to rectify all that was possibility compromised. I was able to talk to an official Google rep today, and she confirmed I had been spoofed.

Working with someone at paypal saying my computer was hacked from germany and then they tranfered me to sparx who the really hacked my computer and scared me into paying $750 for their services
