The person who contacted me said he was from a company that I do business with (Solidtechies (.com).The person I was speaking to had an Indian (India) accent. I was told that the company had computer problems and was relocating to California and that since I'd paid them for the year they would refund my $99.99 and give me a free year for any inconvenience. All I had to do was give them access to my computer (which I do often with Solidtechies), so that I could receive my refund. While they were accessing my computer, I opened a PayPal account. The amount the person keyed in was $2000.00 at which point, I was told that they'd made a mistake entering the amount in and that I needed to refund them $1900.00. It was then that I knew something was amiss. While asking them to hold on, I called my bank to check my balance which didn't reflect a $2,000.00 deposit and after telling them this, the call was ended from their end.

These people were very professional and as I said, the name of a company I'd been using for awhile name was used. I was given a tech name (Mark Wilson), an employee ID number (2010), a Job ID (0011786), a security code (786159) and Helpline Number (970) 347-3514. After they ended the call, I tried the Helpline number and of course, it didn't work. While I'm not sure what can be done, I decided to share my story.
