Skillshare.com Reports & Reviews (2)

I was a member of Skillshare for over ten years. I paid for my yearly membership and then I opened a teacher account. I do not feel comfortable giving all my information to a platform that uses AI and templates for their communication. I created a course for the platform and I uploaded it to their site. When you do this it automatically goes live and it's not reviewed so they flagged me for suspicious and fraudulent activity because I was using a doing business as name to protect me online. Apparently, skillshare wants to control all of your information. They sent me a nasty form e-mail copied and pasted accusing me of violations that I did not commit. The course of action should have been to take the course down and have me re-do it in a different format. What they did was they blocked me from their site without allowing me to take my content down and they still had my tax info and my financial info. I Also paid for the year as a subscriber so I was entitled to my year. They asked me to submit a verification in the form of an id which I did and they said I was committing fraud and they claimed that I did not create my course. They said " it has come to our attention that you did not create your course and your account has violated our terms on our platform and will now be closed" This is [censored]. This is controlling and false. I do have a right to my data. Do not use this platform, it's run by children who don't know how to run a business or design a website properly. I saw that they searched me online with different accounts, they also ran a background check on me without authorization because I got a notification. Maybe not but I do not trust them. They now have ALL of my information and people are saying that they are making charges with inactive accounts. Skillshare is in fact closing many accounts without warning so beware of what you give them online, I would stay away from this at all costs. Also when you close a teacher account, you are affecting all of the students attached to the teacher's course and it is not fair to those who are actively using the content.

I AM REPORTING THIS AS A SCAM BECAUSE IF IT COULD HAPPEN TO ME AND TO SUCH A PUBLIC FIGURE AS *** *** AS A TEACHER, THEN IT COULD HAPPEN TO ANYONE WHO SIGNS UP FOR CLASSES TO TAKE IN THEIR OWN TIME ONLINE.

Skillshare advertises itself as follows: Skillshare is an online learning community with thousands of classes in design, business, tech, and more. Anyone can join the millions of members in our community to learn cutting-edge skills, network with peers and discover new opportunities.

Unlimited Access to More Than 21,000 Classes.

For $99 a year I joined their premium membership and saved classes. Without warning or explanation the teacher and the classes were dropped. Unfortunately, I only joined because they offered classes from one particular teacher I was interested in. I am a kindergarten teacher (24 years teaching in public schools) and knew I wanted to take his courses in my own time over the course of the year, so I saved them to my course list.

I asked Skillshare what happened and this was their response:

Hi *** Thanks for reaching out, I'm happy to assist.

So sorry to hear that content you enjoyed is no longer on the platform! Skillshare sometimes removes classes, either at the teacher's request, or in accordance with our Guidelines.

Apologies for any inconvenience. We do hope you find other classes that you’ll love, and please just let me know if you'd like any recommendations!

Best,

Katrina

**I then contacted *** *** about it and this is what he said:

I just spoke with *** and I am so disappointed in you. How do you account for the fraud you are committing? What guidelines possibly do this to talented teachers and unsuspecting clients?

The following is what he had to say, and I honestly don't expect you to stay in business much longer with your business practices. YOU NEED TO DO BETTER. I will be speaking out about this and making further inquiries to see what can be done about what you've done. YOU NEED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.

**Skillshare's Reply:
