The link to the job application was sent to me through a personal friend on LinkedIn. I verified that she indeed did NOT send this to me. I did some internet research and found others had been scammed by the same company and same person. I had already sent in the application before I realized it was a scam, but luckily did not give my SSN or bank information. I have received the check for $2890 and plan to rip it and throw it away. Others who fell for the scam noted that after depositing the money and purchasing gift cards (which was requested) the check later bounced and they had to pay the bank. Meanwhile the scammers are enjoying their gift cards that you purchased with your own money.
