Fraudulent practices: while installing a registered Mcafee product on brand new computer somehow was hijacked by this company to fill out what seemed to be registry information including phone number. Was having trouble installing one year new validation code. The company then called me from 866-513-3962. When answered they said something to the effect that they were from Mcafee but may have said in a way to say they called from technical support to assist with Mcafee. They asked for verification code. Said it was valid and helped me insert it at a website and it did not work. They then proceeded to take control of my computer using team viewer. They proceeded to scan my brand new computer and showed me at bottom of scan that i had several dangerous viruses and it said "your computer has been hacked by Russia". This sounded so absurd I then knew it was a scam. The man insisted i needed to pay for their technical support for my computer. I hung up looked at my computer for Mcafee phone number and called it. i was then connected with someone whom I explained the last phone call with who said Mcafee never calls you and that it was a scam. After a few minutes they also then insisted I had "network" issues and needed to pay them for assistance. I hung up insisting it was a brand new computer and i just wanted help installing Mcafee. i looked at my phone horrified that I had just called back to the phone number that had called me. I then went through another directory to make sure i had a valid phone number for Intel and Mcafee. They told me after giving my validation code it had indeed been activated earlier that day. But the email address was not mine. My subscription had been hijacked and stolen. They were able to transfer it back to me. This company is fraudulent and they make you think you have a virus which are bogus. They then will take your activatiin code and steal your new product. This company is fraudulent and needs to be put out of business!
