I was instructed to use my own funds to purchase an unaccredited paper check from a non-financial institution (office depot or staples) to then receive an emailed "soft check" to print onto the paper check for reimbursement and additional payment to obtain office supplies. I was informed a hard check mailed to me or direct deposit would not work as they have experienced issues with these methods. I was never interviewed face to face or over the phone with the only phone call I received being from maryland not washington with almost no information given relayed from a non english fluent individual. When I made them aware my bank had instructed me this was not a trusted or known valid way of receiving payment they informed me we were "in a stalemate then". Upon informing them I felt this was fraud in some way I received "okay" as a response. This company is not to be trusted in any way if you are currently working for them the payments are more than likely not legal and if being approached for employment do not give your banking information or accept the method in which they attempt to pay you. There was no background check, no in-depth interview process outside of an email questionnaire, and no actual contact point above the person who will reach out.
