The online store Newport Apparel has been running ads on Facebook and its web page advertising a 70% "Store closing" sale. This is false advertising for several reasons. There is no physical store to close, and other complainants have reported that their merchandise is shipped directly from Asia. Their physical address has changed many times. One is listed as 2840 Mandeville Lane Naperville, IL 60564, another has been 2840 White Church Lane Naperville, IL 60564. However these do not appear to be valid addresses, and these streets appear to be in residential subdivisions. The items for sale on their website, shop-newport.com, are also shown on other online retailers such as west-louis.com. While Newport will show, for example, an item with a $400 retail price on sale for $100, other websites will show the same item with a retail price of $100. It appears as if these items were never on sale for their retail price, and thus customers are not actually getting discounts. Newport will also show an item to be made from natural fibers, whereas other websites will show the same item having artificial fibers. Their support email has refused to answer inquiries regarding the manufacture of their product, and I have not received my purchase yet to confirm.
