I was looking for cheap places to rent on Craigslist and I came across someone renting their 2bedroom apartment on Seaside Ave, Waikiki for a long term rental. He said he was in the military but stationed in Afghanistan for 3 years and he goes through Airbnb for the rental process. Lots of emailed correspondence. Finally claims all I have to do is pay the 1st 2 months rent + security deposit, but then gave directions to use the Walmart money center. I even received a very legit-looking confirmation email from Airbnb. HOWEVER, My friends mentioned that I should go directly to Airbandb to see if they know this . The support team from Airbnb said there's nothing about the whole thing that's legitimate. They would never ask for payment to a 3rd party instead of directly through their own site.
