Women called my sister saying she was a company called 'Senior Medical Associates' (SME) contracted by Medicare to see if she qualifies for free orthopedic back or knee product. She verified my sisters Medicare number and then asked her questions about back and knee pain, her address, pants size, weight, height, meds, etc. Upon listening to my sister give info over the phone, I got on the call and asked a number of questions. The women gave me a company name SME and her name as 'Sydney Agguire'. I asked for the company website and at first she gave 'seniormedicalassociates.net' which brought up a senior physician network out of Florida. She then put us on hold saying she had to talk to her boss to get the correct website. After a few minutes she cam back and said there is not a website but to look at the Medicare site and lookup up suppliers to see SME listed as valid. At that point I asked her for my sister doctor name and she would not give it claiming HIPPA rules. We said to send info via mail and she wanted us to say 'YES' that we don't need any additional calls for knee or whatever so my sister would not receive any other calls. Also claimed call was taped and would be sent to Medicare. Info divulged prior to ending call included Name, Address, Medicare # and saying YES to not needing equipment (which may be edited in scam).
