On October 4, 2018 a three men showed up at my 88 year old father's door and asked if they could spray an asphalt sealant on a small portion of his driveway. The man seemingly in charge goes by the name of Patrick Sherlock. He told my dad that if he liked the small portion of sealed driveway, he would come back later and give him a quote for doing the entire driveway. After only 30 minutes, the man knocked on my dad's door and told him that he had sprayed 120 gallons on the entire driveway. He then proceeded to tell him that he owed him $2,950. When my dad told him that he couldn't pay him that, he then told my dad that he would NOT leave for less than $2,200. He insisted on cash, but my dad didn't have cash. So, he made him write a check. Within 20 minutes, the check had been cashed and my dad was left with a mess on his driveway. They sprayed over the top of tree limbs, acorns and leaves. They used a workorder with the name SealMaster on the top. When I reached out to SealMaster of Greenville, SC, they finally admitted that they did know Patrick Sherlock, but he did not have permission to use their name. And they admitted that they did sell him sealant, but he did not work for them. They did not offer any other helpful information about this man or his scam. Children and caretakers of older persons, please be careful about these men. They use trickery and intimidation to get money from vulnerable people. There is another scam that took place in Tennessee involving the same driveway sealing and the exact same dollar amount ($2,200).
