Was called by a “lieutenant” to say I failed to show up when a judge called me for jury duty and was sent a certified letter that was signed to show up. I was told I had 3 options, hang up and be issued a warrant for arrest, show up at the courthouse for booking and wait for a judge to hear the case, or provide payment for a fee issued by the courts and process paperwork and then a judge would decide if it was excusable and in that case you get your money back. I was sent a text to go to a Federal kiosk to pay the fine and then instructed to head to the police department to process the paperwork, and told that I must maintain contact with the officer the entire time from the initial call to the entrance of the sheriff office.
