I reached out to “Scott” in regards to a leasing ad that was listed on Craigslist. Because I am aware of potential scammers, I asked Scott to verify the listing & was given a valid license, a valid real estate license number, a valid & legitimate website & was even given a formal rental agreement. Everything lined up and was in arrangement. Once the lease was signed and approved, payment was sent, and on the day of move in we were told the house was not ready and that we’d have to delay the move in about 4 days. We spent $700 on a hotel on top of a $2250 deposit and on the day of move in “Scott” attempted to push back the time to 1PM. Seeing as I had a work shift I had pushed back I insisted we stayed on the scheduled time of between 10 and 11AM. When my roommate and I arrived and called his number, my number was blocked and my roommate’s phone calls to this number went straight to voicemail. We have reported it to our bank and are reporting it to the ScamPulse.com to ensure no one else falls for this very realistic scam.
