Job offer I applied for off indeed looking for Data Entry. They contacted me the following morning at 6:30 am with an online interview, then setup with “Signal” a messaging system. They then walked me through a file of 180 addresses and requested that I standardize them and, using the Slade Elevator Inc logo, process all 180 through an online invoicing system. I was able to spend the afternoon completing this, then was told I would have funds forwarded to me for software I needed on my computer. Seconds later a picture (front and back) of a cheque was emailed to me in the amount of $1250.00. Unfortunately I did not clue in until this moment that this was a scam. Now looking at the correspondence, there were many errors in the body of the email, and the actual cheque also had spelling errors. Also, the “company” became very insistent that I cash the cheque immediately so that we could continue. I replied and told them I needed to speak with RCMP regarding the cheque, and I have heard nothing since. Very sad that I wasted the better part of a day on these POS people.
