I received an instant message through LinkedIn from a previous co-worker that she was trying this "mystery shopper" job. I replied "is this legitimate" and she replied "yes she was trying it right now". I applied on-line with name, address and email. I received an email asking if I accept the assignment. I replied I would on a trial basis. I was to be notified within a week and it was actually about 3 weeks later. There was an apology email on the assignment and they would send me a check to purchase items and keep so much for myself. I received a text that a check ($2380.00) had been delivered usps priority mail. I received it and it looked suspicious. I showed it to the bank and the teller pulled up other checks with the same account number and the written dollars was different and the stamp on the back of the check was different. She believe it to be a scam and told me not to respond. The check looked like it had been also cut at the bottom where a stub would have been. I responded that I received the check and if I could complete assignment right then. I said no and this was at 8pm EST. I instant messaged the co-worker again and she said her account had been hacked. The next day the scammer text again asking me to go buy the ITUNES CARDS and send back a picture of the scratched off numbers. I told him to not contact me again this was a scam. The email had the name of Mark Wilder however the email in gray was from a [email protected]. I blocked the phone number of 234-755-2813
