Caller asked to speak to a parent of......They stated they were from College Prep and that our son requested extra study material for Sat/Act prep. Material would be sent to our house and then we would have 30 days to look over and download anything we wanted to save and then we would need to send the material back otherwise we would be charged 249.95

Agreed to this and was told there would be a hold on our account. They had me verify, address, email and telephone number. The call came in as a local number, but was given an 888 number to call with any questions which is pacific time. After asking my son about it, he states he did not request study material. I then hopped on the internet and found a news article about this same scam.

The call came from a local phone number, but the person gave me an 877 number to call back. I called the local number and it was out of service. I got a voicemail when I called the 877 number. The person said his name was Michael Lee and that my child had filled out forms to receive SAT prep material. He asked me to pay a deposit that I would get back when material was returned.

Got an unsolicited call from a person claiming to be from the College Board, the company responsible for SAT tests, or another educational organization. The caller claimed to be confirming my address, so they can send test prep materials, such as books, CDs, or videos, that your child requested at school. (And I would be charged a deposit Only, of several Hundred $$$)

When I ask Wo is calling they Hung up. Bu they keep calling back several times a week, and I can not return the call, the phone number does not take incoming calls.

Scammer called with same area code as my number (yet I live in the Chicagoland and have an Atlanta number). Scammer knew my son's first and last name. Scamner said my son requested SAT prep. I said he already took it, he pushed back and said he requested it and will send it. I told him I wasn't aware of an upcoming test date, scammer replied SAT test is May 7. I told him to go ahead and send it. Scammer knew my address already. Then he said I had to return the CDs or there would be a fee. Asked how the CDs would be returned and he replied to put them back in the original package like a Christmas present. Then he just needed my credit card number and email address. I told him I was driving so couldn't get a card out. He immediately hung up on me.

The caller provides your child’s name and says they ordered some SAT prep materials for college. (Targeting parents of seniors). They say the materials are free for a set amount of time however you need to provide a credit card until the materials are returned.

When I asked my daughter if she ordered any college prep materials he immediately hung up the call.

They called me telling me I needed to pay my daughters sat prep fees. Since she is in progress with this u though
