Looked up this contractor on Nguoi Viet newspaper and contacted him to replace kitchen counter. He came and asked for cash amount of $1000 upfront first for materials. I paid and he said he’ll come next day to install. He didn’t show up and I tried calling him several times and when he answered he said he forgot and was busy with another project but will come back the day after. That day came and he didn’t show up either so I tried calling him and he never answered or responded to my texts again. Scammed me out of $1000. Only had his phone number (714) 624-2311 and his first name Sam.

I got the quote for $40 per hour plus $40 for the Truck and minimum is 4 hours, when the movers showed up at my location they asked for $300 deposit which it was not mentions , I gave them $300 deposit. they took my stuff, one of the mover was in the truck playing with his phone , I helped the other one to take the stuff in the Truck. There was only one item upstairs which I helped the mover to take it down and I got charged for stairs as well. On their way to my new location they stopped in a Gas station and asked for $200 more deposit. I asked my partner to bring $200 more, When I gave them $ 200 extra, then they gave me a bill for &700 more, I asked them to take my stuff to my location because I didn't have that much money , they refused and stopped at a Gas station. They also damage one of my item which I noticed after. I ended up paying $1200 . I also charge for $40 per hour for each mover and charged for gas , which they added all after.

Received the following text message from an unknown number.

“Hi this is Sam, we recently bought a home and we are looking for another. Would you consider a cash proposal for your house 2712 Edgewood Ave S, right?”

This is my actual address, but it’s tied to an out of state cell phone number so that is irritating.

Called me on the phone and said "I'm a homeowner, calling on a recorded line to discuss issues with your home. Can you hear me ok?

Received phone call at 4:40 am. My father is in nursing home so we answered call. Person said his name was Sam and could we hear him since it was a bad connection? I said yes and he said he needed to talk to me and then he hung up. Afterward I realized I had said yes on phone. He woke us from a deep sleep and I am now worried this was a scam. What should we now do?

"Sam" called saying he could lower my interest rate because i had been doing so well on my payments on my capital one credit card.
