SafeVinCheck.com Reports & Reviews (7)

I posted a vehicle for sale on Craigslist and was contacted by "Andy" stating he was interested in my vehicle. He asked if there were any issues with said vehicle. I responded via email that there was no issues. He responded back to me asking me to get the VIN # checked by going to SafeVinCheck.com and spending $19 for the VIN report. From the initial email I was suspicious of a scam, but the 2nd email confirmed it. I responded that I was an Auto Broker and never heard from this clown again. Beware of any emails similar to this. They want you to go to their bogus website and purchase their "report". Once you do that, they have all kinds of info on you and can steal a lot more than $19.

"Brian" sent an email saying he was interested in the car I advertised and suggested I go on SaveVinCheck.com to get a vehicle report to verify that the vehicle I'm selling got a positive report and will only cost me $18.95 not the $40 others cost. See below

I replied back with some further details about the car and within seconds got a reply back stating

"Hello, I was reaching out to you about your vehicle for sale. Do you have a current vehicle history report for it? If not, I suggest getting one at:

SafeVinCheck.com

When I was selling my vehicle I got one from there to show people that were interested. It was only $19 which is half the cost of Carfax($40 or more). It will show if there are any issues with it. The peace of mind it gives for such a large sale is a bonus too.

It will verify that it has not been in any bad accidents, that it has a clean title and that it has not been stolen. There are so many scams out there. People are more likely to look at it with a report provided.

Talk to you soon. Thanks!"

Step 1: they respond to your craigslist ad

"I am interested in talking to you about your vehicle that is for sale. Are there any issues with it? I have been having problems with my messages getting through on here, so if you could, please message me at my personal email"

Step 2: they ask you do a vin check through an unknown site

"Hello, I was reaching out to you about your vehicle for sale. Do you have a current vehicle history report for it? If not, I suggest getting one at:

Selling the car on Craigslist. Was contacted by Andy who requested a vin check report from the above site to be sure that title is clean etc. Report is totally bogus, no accurate data except the info on the original owner more than 10 years ago. Of course Andy disappeared once I paid for the report.

This website emails auto sellers on Craigslist to solicit the seller to run a fake carfax. Here's the full email from them:
