They sent an email to a student email with a form saying they were looking for a Personal Assistant. I filled out the form and got an email the next day saying I got the job. I was asked to make a list of toys for a charity drive and after completed, I was sent a check and was told to send the money from the check to [email protected] on zelle, who was registered as Troy Logsdon. I was not wary, as they did not ask for my account or routings number. The business on the check was also a real business owned by a real attorney with a professional website. The next day, the check went through and I sent the money as instructed. I was then sent another check and was told to do the same thing. The first check was then reclaimed by the bank and the second one was not depositing. I informed them of this and they claimed it was an issue with their bank and it’d be resolved. I told them I was no longer comfortable using my bank account and asked if there were other options but they insisted I use mine and any bank issues did not require me to speak with the bank. Feeling suspicious, I called my bank and they confirmed the checks were fake. The money sent to them was taken from my bank account.
