Apparently this a very common scam. I located several postings stating the similar thing with the exact verbiage and details. Sigh. If a job reaches out and says they’ll have you buy equipment via check its 100% a scam.
This exact verbiage is also unfortunately the focus of a variety of fraudulent job postings.
DO NOT deposit the check, send money, or give out your personal information and pay attention to the senders email addresses. Always cross reference the job posting on the company’s site with the email you got as well. But yes this 9.8/10 a scam.
