scammer posed as a SD looking for a SB and was offering a weekly allowance to just have someone to talk to since they lived in Alaska. The scammer claimed his wife had died and that he was looking for someone to keep his mind off his wife. The scammer claimed to be 46 years old and was a construction engineer who worked and lived in Alaska. He went on to discussing the allowance and was very eager to send me the money. He went on to saying that he could only do mobile to deposits due to being previously scammed out of 12,000 dollars. Not sure how true that was, in that moment I was uncomfortable with his requests to do mobile deposits and give my acct information. I also pulled his phone information from the US phone book which pulled up a 24year old boy named Jose Rojas. I asked him about that information, he went on to saying that he was his company's accountant which I knew was a bunch of smoke. He sent me a check for 1500.00 made payable to me but was draw on a law firm check out of California which was a major red flag. Since he said he claimed to be living in Anchorage. He assured me that the check was legitimate and all I needed to do was to deposit it. Well luckily, I have a family member that works for global security at a bank that was able to verify that this is a fraudulent check and was attempted fraud if I hadn't suspect something was off.
