I was applying to jobs on LinkedIn about a year ago and was excited when one reached out to me for an interview. They first requested a background check, that I presume would have required my social security number and other important personal information, which I found to be odd. I then called the "employer" to verify the process and they informed me that they were not hiring and that the LinkedIn posting must have been a scammer trying to get information. The business was real, but the job posting was a scam.
