I received an email yesterday from a company that stated that my company, Background Reporters, had been selected for the 2015 Best of Ridgeland awards. I thought it might be legitimate since I had seen an ad in the Clarion Ledger about making nominations for Best of Mississippi awards. I became suspicious when I clicked on the link and they wanted me to pay for the award ($149 or more). I then googled it to see if anyone else had reported this as a scam. I found several reports in different areas of the country. I am passing this information on to the Mississippi ScamPulse.com so other businesses will be aware of the scam.
