Was matched on a dating site, which included two or three pictures supposedly of him. The only contact was internet, texting, phone calls, and maybe a couple emails, but nothing in person. He said what he thought I wanted to hear. He sounded very supportive and very accommodating. I wanted to believe him. Throughout the duration of our interaction, he'd occasionally ask me for my address, credit card information, banking information, but I made excuses not to give him the information or change the subject to avoid it. [During at least one of the phone calls, I heard a rooster in the background. He also talked with an accent, but had already explained it away saying his dad was from US and his mom from France.] After a couple weeks or so, he claimed he was very sick and weak and asked repeatedly for a $100 itunes gift card because he claimed it was what was needed as some sort of down payment for some gold he needed to buy for his jewelry business. I finally caved and texted a picture of the card number. Less than a week later, he asked me for a $50 itunes gift card. I brushed it off, and started insisting we meet. He claimed he would meet me on his way back from picking up gold overseas for his jewelry business. He gave me the date and time he would arrive at the airport and had me book a hotel room for his stay. I declined giving him the confirmation information when he asked. The day after his departure, I get a call from a number in Ghana: 233-50-121-2652, and it was him asking me for $1000 that he needed to secure his gold/jewelry transaction. [During one of these Ghana calls, I heard a rooster in the background.] I declined and gave him some suggestions as to how he could get the money. He kept negotiating downward, trying to get me to give him something. At one point, he asked me to call him. I did and ended up with a $13.39 phone charge for a 4 minute call in which he kept asking for financial help. He also asked for another itunes gift card. I finally texted that I could only help him with $0.00. He stopped asking. I thought that was the end of it, but 10/24/18, he texted back and said he was back in the states. Asking about whether I started seeing anyone else or having contact with anyone else. Says he wants to set up to meet since the first meeting fell through. I'd like to believe him, but my rational side is saying a good/successful businessman wouldn't have to ask for money from those in whom he professes romantic interest.
