I saw the ad on Facebook for duct cleaning service. So I sent a message to get a free quote. Response was immediate and asking for the square footage and the number of furnaces. Came back with a price quickly. I asked for references. They sent me a link to their Facebook page. Very basic information and stock pictures. Set up a time for the service and said that if they had an earlier date to let me know. Contacted me on a Saturday that said they had an opening the following Monday morning. Received a call and a text regarding their eta on Monday morning. He arrived 10 minutes late and alone. Said it was typical for employees to call in sick and that he was used to working alone. He arrived, seemed very hyper. I asked about chimney cleaning and he said he could do that as well and told me the price. He was there a total of 1 hour and 20 minutes. He asked me to make the check out to First Choice. He took the check, and I asked for a receipt and his business card. He said he would email me the invoice later that day. Having received no paperwork or even their business address, I became suspicious and things started to add up and make sense. I texted the number he had used in the morning and got no response. I messaged the person who set up the appointment and who I had communicated with. No response still. I called my bank and put a hold on the check, relieved to hear that it had not been cashed. I never had their business address or business phone number. There's no website either! Words of advice: never respond to a Facebook ad for services. Do your homework and look at the ScamPulse.com ratings!
