I am a church volunteer who reached out to this business in early October of this year, asking if they could rent us a camel for 2 hours on December 16 for a live nativity production we were doing in our neighborhood. The business advertises this service on their two websites and state the price is $450 for one hour and an additional $400 for another hour to rent a camel from them. He said he could absolutely help us, and we reserved the camel, over a month in advance, paying a deposit on October 17. The price he told us was $800 for a 2-hour rental (he claimed he was giving us a discount). He promised a further discount if we paid the entire bill up front, and he tried to get us to do this. But we decided not to take the discount, and to just pay the minimum $300 deposit to reserve the camel. In late November, he suddenly changed the price, telling us we had misunderstood, and saying it was actually $700/hour for the camel rather than $400/hr. This was ridiculous since we had an invoice saying the price we had agreed to, and that it covered 2 hours of camel rental, and multiple emails with him clearly confirming the same thing. But--even though we were very frustrated with the change--we agreed to pay the new price, which meant we could only have the camel come for 1 hour, because this was a big event we had been advertising and we felt it would be too late to find any other camel at this point. We were so upset about this change because we had advertised the event for a longer time than 1 hour, but we had no choice. We spoke with him multiple times and emailed him confirming that the camel would come for one hour. The day before the event, he assured us that the camel would be there. No camel ever showed up. The business stopped answering calls, emails or texts and will not respond about refunding our deposit. No explanation was ever given.
