I received a letter and check by UPS today 2/10/2023 from a mystery shopping company with instructions to deposit the check into my account ($2,590) and to go to 2 locations either Walmarts or CVS and to purchase gift cards and to report and answer questions on the paper to an email and phone number provided and then to ship the gift cards back to them and keep the remainder of the funds i didn't use after purchasing the gift cards. Someone I spoke with mentioned a scam very similar so I didn’t deposit the check, but spoke with a ScamPulse.com representative and they informed me it is most likely a scam and sent me this link to report it. I am retaining the check and letter in case more information is needed, but do not plan to move forward. Also, the phone number I provided in this form keeps texting me if I deposited the check and urging me to move forward, but I have not responded. I am not sure what to do at this point.

Scammer sent a letter and a check for $3,050 and asked to purchase gift cards from Walmart and CVS and to send the gift cards to them
