Posted in a Facebook group about housing options and received a DM from a man who said he was with Rep homes. His answers were suspicious from the start, but he had a Facebook profile, pictures of the apartment, and was offering it at a good price. I was tempted to accept until I did more research and saw that he had no LinkedIn or personal website. I called the company phone number several times and never got through, but it was the fact that they had never even set up a voicemail that confirmed my suspicions. Do not fall for this!

While searching for an apartment on a Facebook group I came across a post by Negron Dywer (https://www.facebook.com/Negrondywer) having an apartment available. The person sent photos then videos of the apartment to gain trust.
After some messaging I received an application from [email protected] The form asks for personally identifying information, including social security number, date of birth, current and past addresses, bank name and account number.
The person emailing then sends a lease agreement indicating a Kenny Rene booked the apartment for me.
Payments are supposed to be made via Zelle to [email protected], Zelle Account name: Mawa Kromah
The lease includes a photo of a group of people as supposed witnesses to the lease agreement.
Another odd lease feature: "Agency Approved by: Darryl C. Towns Commissioner/CEO New York and Massachusetts
State and Division of Housing and Community Renewal by: Darryl C. Towns."
I submitted some personal information. I did not make a payment.
