I came across Renuvaderm’s ad for free anti-aging cream sample with the only financial obligation being to pay for shipping and handling for the sample. Nowhere on the website or on the separate site to enter info to have samples delivered sample were there any written conditions explaining that you had 14 days to return it, and if you didn’t, you would be agreeing to be charged a monthly subscription (for me $94.57) to continue receiving the product. I never received a shipment and promptly forgot that I had ever ordered any samples. However, my credit card was charged $94.57 on September 23, 2017 and the same amount on October 22, 2017. I called my credit card issuer to dispute the charges as I did not even recognize the name of the 2nd company that had processed the transaction. The credit card agent suggested I call the company for which she had phone numbers (which suggests this happens frequently for these companies) to cancel the ‘subscription’ and first see if they would refund my credit card.

I called the first number (855-342-3337) and spoke with a Mary Catherine (I doubt this is a real name). She insisted the sample had been delivered in September and provided me a USPS tracking number (94001111899564625253694), and said the other was just shipped and again provided me a tracking number (940011690215852337129). She said that she would cancel the subscription to prevent any future shipments (cancelation #2072614), she offered various discount options for the products she claims were shipped for which I became obligated when I signed up to get the sample. Because I never received anything in the mail from Reuvaderm, I was unaware under a time constraint and obligation. I also went back to their website (http://renuvaderm.org/) to see if anything was written stating that by ordering the ‘free’ samples, you would be agreeing to enter into a subscription contract if you did not contact the company and return the product.

I am disputing the charge with my credit card company, however, Mary Catherine told me I would not win because they have tracking numbers, and if I returned the latest product that was just shipped (assuming I get it), that they would just ship it back to me and charge me back.

This is not only deceptive advertising, but I believe it borders on being fraudulent since I received nothing and was completely unware of what was happening to my account. Something needs to be done about this company. If nothing more, they should be forced to state on its website that you’re potentially entering into a subscription contract if you fail to return the product and/or notify the company within a limited time period so that those who order the trial are on notice they will need to follow up with company if they do not receive anything.
