I was contacted for freelance employment by the company. The company emailed me a check to buy equipment for the job from a vendor. Luckily, the check was put on hold by my bank at which point the company asked me to front the money for the equipment. The next day after I said I was not comfortable with that the check was deemed fake/altered by my bank and I was left with a fake check fee. The company stopped responding after this.
