On the 10th of April I was contacted by a person using the email [email protected] claiming to be named Steven Van Basten. He said he found my profile and website via Indeed.com and asked me if i'd like to schedule an interview. I responded and said yes as I'd been applying for jobs lately, including a few from Indeed so I thought it might be connected. We set up a skype interview for April 13th (His Skype ID at cid.4fac5011eb0efd76). The interview was, surprisingly, text based but seemed legitimate. I had not heard about text based interviews nor did I know it was a staple of scams. I assumed there would be more rounds of actual face to face interviews afterward. I gave him my bank name and internet provider. The next day I was told I got the job. My wife and I were so excited we signed the contract and W4 immediately. It wasn't until two days later we got suspicious and realized it almost definitely spam. I had already given him my address, photo of my ID, social security number, and mother's maiden name at that point. On the 17th I told "Steven" I knew it was scam after he refused to give me other contacts in the company and wanted me to deposit a check. So far after that contact stopped.
