The scammer offered a new, unused, still-in-box Garmin model 1040 bicycle computer for $400. I offered $300 and they accepted. The unit normally retails for $700. Scammer said the unit was given to them by their father-in-law who received it in a secret Santa exchange (the father-in-law supposedly worked at Garmin and the unit was at no cost to him. Neither he nor the scammer was a cyclist and wanted to sell the unit. Scammer wanted to use PayPal Cash for the transaction.
