I originally received a post card in the mail about the covid-19 Loan Modification Program. I did not call, but they called me. I told them that I was not behind on my mortgage payments, however because we were affected by the covid pandemic, we qualified for a loan modification on our mortgage. It would save us almost $400 a month. I had to send them all of our paystubs, bank information, tax return, etc, and pay them $1895 to get started. It completely sounded legit. All my information was sent to my mortgage company, however they wanted to modify my loan to $700 more a month. When I called my mortgage company to ask why it was more and not less like I was told, they told me that I was scammed.
