I'm trying to sell a car through Autotrader and got a series of text messages from a "potential buyer" asking me for the vehicle history report and to go to a specific website to obtain this report. He said his name was Gary & wanted me to email the report to a Gmail account. I refused to do both of these things and instead ran a carfax report and sent a screen shot to the number that text me. He was very adamant I run a particular report from a particular website called quickautohistory.COM. I called him out as a scammer and the texts immediately stopped.

They texted me showing interest in a car I have listed for sale online. They asked if I could send a CVC report and when I asked what that was the refereed me to the website quickautohistory.com. The website is obviously fake and I told them I’m not buying anything from them and if they wanted to do an online independent report they can use the VIN and purchase one from a website like carfax. I have everything screenshotted so if you need any more information please contact me. I don’t want elderly people to be caught in this scam.
