Qtechnology group Reports & Reviews (1)

- Phenix City, AL, USA

At the beginning of August, I got an email from a woman at HR saying that this company called Qtechnology group (IT consulting firm, based out of Canada) wanted to have a phone interview with me for a new open position they had. Here is the link to the website https://qtechsgroup.com/ They gave me contact info and said that someone would be calling for a phone interview. The job was for an executive assistant job that was M-F, 9-5 paying over $30.00 an hour, to say I was ecstatic was an understatement! A few days after the initial email I had the phone interview with the HR manager and she asked me four questions, simple questions that were typical in an interview, so no red flags were raised. Now keep in mind that I didn’t actually apply for this job, they found me I guess that should have been my first clue, but I had an interview a few weeks prior that found my resume on a job’s website. Anyway, a few days later I got another email saying I got the job, I was over the moon and gave the info they asked for, just standard information nothing too personal. The following day I got a call from the scammer explaining the position and that I was to accept the keys to the new office location in a week’s time, I would also be sent a check and I was to use these funds to buy office supplies (don’t worry the scammer was going to help me every step of the way) and he was sending me my work computer. After thinking about it, it started to sound fishy, so I started to dig. The website was fake, and had only been up for roughly 2 weeks, the phone number they were using had no owner information attached to them. The address on the website was also a fake, no ScamPulse.com information. I was feeling really bummed out, just like that this incredible job offer was taken from me before it was even really mine. This was by far the most elaborate scam I have ever heard of, and the first one that I actually almost fell for. The scammer also said that he would be sending me a cashier’s check in my name and once I got the check, I was to deposit it and then use the funds to purchase office supplies and furniture from their approved vendors. I ended up getting the check in the mail, taking it to my local PD to file a report and shred the check. I have since cut contact with my scammer. The scammers went by the names Rodney and Nicole.
