QB Services Reports & Reviews (1)

In June I was deep into preparations for an office move. When I went into my Quickbooks account to pay bills, payroll and taxes, my Quickbooks froze up on me and I could not access my account. Because I could not access the Help button within Quickbooks, I went online and found what looked like Quickbooks Support. All of the voices I spoke with had a distinctly Indian (country) accent. They transferred me to Sean Williams, who told me that my database was 41% corrupt. If it had been 50%, it would not be retrievable, but he could help me to restore it. He then transferred me to James, who told me that the only version that had the in house payroll capabilities was the Premier version and that is $749.99 per year; HOWEVER, they do not sell annual subscriptions, only three-year subscriptions. He then said it would take 1-2 hours to set up. I told him that I cannot authorize a payment this size and would have to get authorization from my Executive Committee. Two hours later I had authorization and was switched back to Sean to set up an ACH transfer of funds from my bank. Next I was transferred to Tom who installed a Wizard and said he was uninstalling older Quickbooks versions, files and registration and installed Quickbooks Pro 2023. Whne he ran into troubles initializing the license properties, he downloaded Quickbooks Tool Hub and fixed the 3371 error. He ran diagnostics and said that the curruption had been removed and the new Quickbooks had been installed. He also told me to use the Help button within Quickbooks if I had any other future issues. He also said that they would not notify me of the next billing date. A month later, I received a notice from Quickbooks that my subscription was about to expire and that I owed $549.99. I called Sean back. He was supposedly "busy" with another customer. After 2-3 minutes I was connected with a billing person who told me that all services were activated and "You do not have to pay nothing". I asked why I am now getting a notice that I owe a subscription fee for a one year subscription. He said he would check into it and put me on hold. Seven minutes later a recorded voice said "goodbye" and the call was disconnected. Now I was concerned that I had been scammed! I went to the Help button in my Quickbooks and got a legitimate-looking screen, but I was unable to escape from that screen and the only options on the page involved sending personal information. I looked up the Quickbooks Customer Support number, checked it carefully and eventually was connected to Jenny. She confirmed that my license number was legitimate and my product was up-to-date. She informed me that Quickbooks only has 800 phone numbers (Sean's was 888). She informed me that it looked like I had been scammed. In the future, I should only use the Help button inside Quickbooks. (I explained that is the reason I called her) She also suggested that I check my credit card. I immediately called our bank and got a new credit card and had to close all online banking and set up a new account. This has not only been terribly frightening and time-consuming, but now I am leery of doing any business online! - including sending this scam report. I tried to submit a ScamPulse.com Claim, but I do not know that the business listing offered is the right business, since this business is most likely located in a call center in India.
