I was shopping for a puppy. Found a Mastiff puppy listed under homeforenglishmastiffs.com site. Called the number listed for purchasing or inquiring about a puppy (617)862-9147. They would ship the puppy or you could pick it up. The price was $870 with a non-breeding contract. I have never purchased a puppy on-line. This guy answered all my questions and asked me a bunch of questions covering my ability to care for the puppy. He sent me a simple contract and said payment would be needed once the contract was signed. I had never purchased a puppy on-line so I attempted to check him out by contacting the BBB. No reference was found. So I contacted the Templeton, MA. Animals Control Office. The Animal Control Office asked for the name and the address where I was to pickup the puppy. After running a check, the representative told me it was indeed a scam. People had gone to the site to pickup puppies they paid for only to find out there were no puppies.
