A man claiming to be an Executive Manager with Puget Sound Energy by the name of Robert Williams called Elyse's Catering at 2:50 pm on January 12, 2017 stating that a service technician would be disconnecting the electricity within 30 minutes. My name is Carol and I am the Bookkeeper at Elyse's Catering. I called Mr. Williams back to find out why there was a disconnect order if I had a Payment Arrangement from Puget Sound Energy, dated January 5, 2017, in my hand. I had recently made a payment and that payment had already been deducted from the company checking account. Mr. Williams stated that the payment did not go through as the company had contacted all of their customers by mail telling them that no payment made online or by check would post due to the company going offline. He stated that the only way to stop the disconnect was for us to pay cash as a check would not stop the disconnect and it would take 24-48 hours for the electricity to be restored once the payment cleared. I demanded to speak to a manager and he said that he was the manager and was trying to work with me. I told him that I did not have the cash and the owner is currently out of state. I told Mr. Williams that I would have the owner, Elyse Harrington, contact him immediately. I hung up and proceeded to contact Elyse and explain this situation to her. Elyse directed me to contact Puget Sound Energy right away and she said that she would call Mr. Williams. I spoke to a Customer Service Rep from PSE and she stated that our company account is in good standing, a Payment Arrangement was in place, and the recent payment was received. She stated that this was a possible scam so not to pay any money to the caller. My coworker contacted Elyse and luckily she put Mr. Williams on hold to answer our telephone call. She proceeded to tell Mr. Williams that because he would not allow us to take a payment to the local PSE office that this must be a scam and that we would be reporting him to the Attorney General's Office. She then hung up the telephone.
